Fatal Framingham Crash Was An 'Apparent Suicide': MA State Police

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on the Mass Pike in Framingham on Tuesday.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Massachusetts State Police have released findings from their investigation into the fatal crash on the Mass Pike in Framingham on Tuesday.

State police units were on the scene on Mass Pike eastbound at mile marker 111 as of 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Troopers responded to the scene and located a 2013 Freightliner truck, operated by a 65-year-old man from Hartford, Conn., that struck a pedestrian causing fatal injuries.

State police have said that the "investigation at this time suggests the incident was an apparent suicide."

The investigation indicates that the pedestrian, tentatively identified as an adult male from Boston, was outside of his vehicle, which was stopped in the breakdown lane as the truck approached. The victim then suddenly ran toward the oncoming truck and was struck, state police said.
