Flyers Advance to Quarter Finals

Flyers Win In Style Advance to MIAA Division 2 South Quarter Finals

On Wednesday night March, 2, the Framingham Boys Varsity Hockey Team faced off against Weymouth in front of  a sold out Loring Arena in Framingham. The line was out the door and almost around the corner of the Old Barn when the puck dropped. Amongst the crowd were young, old, current and past Flyers cheering on their hometown team who came into the tournament ranked third with a record of 14-3-5. Having already beaten Weymouth at home and tied on the road, everyone knew our boys could pull off the win.

In the first period, after both teams had plenty of chances to score, Weymouth broke through first ending the period at 1-0. However, after the break, the Flyers came out strong and scored 3 goals in four minutes including a power play goal by Senior Tyler Anes who just the week before was questionable with a high temperature along with two of his teammates. This game was a true testament of a gut check. With a healthy squad, the home team was able to hold Weymouth to only two goals while scoring the fourth and final goal of the game on an empty netter.

As a photojournalist who wasn't born in Framingham, it's always a pleasure and honor to cover these boys and all the other Flyer teams. Win, lose, or tie, they are always respectful and this comes from all the great coaches at the high school.
