Four More Marijuana License Applicants Recommended To Mayor

Two retail establishments, a marijuana product manufacturer and a cultivator joined the list of businesses moving forward to the mayor.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham has added four more names to the list of businesses that have been recommended for a host community agreement to Mayor Yvonne Spicer. The latest additions include two retail establishments, one marijuana product manufacturer and another marijuana product manufacturer & cultivator. The total number of businesses the Marijuana Advisory Team (MAT) has recommended to the mayor is now at six.

The two retail establishments recently recommended are Cultivate Holdings, LLC and Innovative Flower, LLC. Both plan to be co-located with a Registered Marijuana Dispensary (RMD) to offer both adult use and medical marijuana. Cultivate plans to be located at 250 Worcester Road and brings a bit more experience to the field, being the first business to open a retail shop in the state with their Leicester location. Innovative Flower has plans for a shop at 655 Cochituate Road.

Cloud Creamery, LLC is the first marijuana product manufacturer to get the green light from the MAT to move forward. Cloud Creamery applied for a production license to make cannabis infused ice cream at 115 Herbert Street. The company's application specifies that the ice cream would be sold to dispensaries and hospitals and never sold directly to customers. Cloud Creamery is branded as a locally sourced edible choice for patients and adult users of marijuana.

Caregiver- Patient Connection, LLC applied for a combination product manufacturer & cultivator license and also will move forward in negotiations with the mayor. CareGiver-Patient Connection plans to build a growing facility at 61 Tripp St and selling their product wholesale to marijuana dispensaries across the state. The company has owned the industrial complex on Tripp Street since 1995 and plans on hiring 25 workers.

Two other retail businesses are already engaged in negotiations with Mayor Spicer for host community agreements, Union Twist and Temescal Wellness. The maximum number of marijuana retail establishments allowed in Framingham is set at six.

Between November 21, 2018 and March 31, 2019, the MAT received 17 applications from 16 applicants. As of March 31, 2019, the MAT held meetings with 15 of the 16 applicants, one application is still incomplete and one MAT applicant submitted two applications, one for an RMD and one for a marijuana retail establishment. Five applications were denied and four applicants must submit additional information.

The six applicants that have been recommended to the mayor for host community agreements are listed below:

1. Union Twist, Inc., to be located at 630 Worcester Road, for an adult-use marijuana retail establishment;
2. Temescal Wellness, Inc., at 665 Cochituate Road, for an adult-use marijuana retail establishment with its existing RMD;
3. Cultivate Holdings, LLC, at 250 Worcester Road, for a marijuana retail establishment with a co-located RMD;
4. Innovative Flower, LLC, at 655 Cochituate Road, for a marijuana retail establishment to be col-located with an RMD;
5. Cloud Creamery, LLC, to be located at 115 Herbert Street for a marijuana product manufacturer

6. Caregiver Patient Connection, LLC, to be located at 60 and 61 Tripp Street, for a co-located marijuana product manufacturer and marijuana cultivation facility.
