Framingham Boxer Danny O'Connor Headlines Monster Brawl Boxing Event

Framingham's Danny O'Connor, 23-2, steps back into the ring Thursday night, Oct. 30.

Framingham’s Danny O’Connor, returns to the boxing ring Thursday night headline a nine-fight card, that will be televised on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes.

O’Connor, managed by Murphy’s Boxing USA, will fight fellow welterweight Andrew Farmer, in a 10-round bout at historic Plymouth Memorial Hall on Thursday, Oct. 30.

Doors open at 6. Fights, promoted by Murphy’s Boxing USA and Golden Boy Productions, are scheduled between 7 and 11 p.m.

“We really felt that Plymouth was an ideal place to host our fight card. It is a great town, with a ton of history. The Plymouth Memorial Hall could easily have been designed for boxing. There is not a bad seat in the house, and even the general admission seating overlooks the ring. This could be one of the best live places to watch boxing in all the country”, said promoter Ken Casey.

Tickets for Monster Brawl, are $45 general admission balcony, $65 general admission mezzanine, $80 reserved floor seats, and $100 reserved ringside seats. Tickets can be purchased at murphysboxing.com

The night will not only consist of nine bouts, but in the spirit of Halloween, there will be a best costume party, with cash prizes. The 1st place winner will receive $500, with $300 going to 2nd place and $200 going to 3rd place.

Of the nine fights, the main event is the O’Connor vs Farmer fight.

O’Connor is a former a former U.S. Amateur Champion, with a record of 23-2, with seven knockouts. This is his first fight in a year, due to an elbow injury.

Farmer has a record of 18-2.

O’Connor, a state champion wrestler at age 16, dropped out of Framingham High before finishing at an alternative school. At age 19, he started boxing with the Framingham Police Athletic League. By 2008, he had won 95 amateur fights and a National Golden Gloves title.

O’Connor had been training in Texas, but is now training back home in the Commonwealth, enjoying time with his wife and son in between trainings sessions. He was recently hired as the head trainer for a new boxing club planning to open in Framingham, next month.
