Framingham Celebrates 2nd Annual Flag Day Parade

Framingham residents, local and state officials took to the streets to honor the men and women serving in the armed forces.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham celebrated Flag day a bit early this weekend with its second annual Flag Day Parade. This year's Flag Day Parade Grand Marshal was City Council Vice Chair Charles Sisitsky.

The parade featured both local and state officials marching alongside local organizations, all in honor of the men and women serving in the armed forces and the city's veterans. The parade started at St. Stephen's Church and ended at Bowditch Field.

This year's parade included a sensory-friendly section to help harbor an inclusive experience to those who might not attend because of the noise. In the first block between Clinton Street (in front of St. Stephen's Church) and Memorial Plaza (in front of the Memorial Building), parade participants refrained from using flashing lights and sounding sirens, horns and loud music. The sensory-friendly section was sponsored by The Explorers Program of the Department of Community Resource Development atFramingham Public Schools.
