Framingham High Principal Taking Leave of Absence

Framingham High Principal Adam Goldberg sent an email to staff, parents, students Sunday night.

Framingham High School Principal Adam Goldberg is taking a leave of absence.

Framingham Patch reported the news just before the holiday break.

Goldberg, who was hired in 2014 to replace Michael Welch who left to become the Superintendent of Schools In Dedham, has been suffering from a back problem since the fall.

“Some of you also know that during most of the Fall, I was suffering from back pain. While a surgery and other treatments have certainly helped me in getting stronger, I need to focus the next few months on recovery. I have asked the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Stacy L. Scott, for a medical leave of absence so that I may focus my efforts accordingly,” wrote Golderg in an email to parents, staff and students Sunday night.

“This is a terrible disappointment for me,” wrote Golderbg, who lives in Framingham, which his wife and children.

“ I fully trust that the leadership team at the high school will be able to work with Dr. Scott and others in my absence.”

Elyse Torbert will likely be in charge at Framingham High, while Goldberg is on leave. The former vice principal was promoted to the newly-created position of Associate Principal of Framingham High in 2014.

Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott has issued no statement. He did confirm to Framingham Patch on Dec. 22 that Goldberg would be on medical leave.
