"Filling a vacancy of any public position is essential, and this one was personally important to me ..."

The following is a release:
Framingham resident and education policy specialist Adam Freudberg, the father of three young children, announced his candidacy for a seat on the Framingham School Committee.
With an extensive background in education policy at all levels of government including eight years on Beacon Hill in the Office of former Governor Deval Patrick and former Lt. Governor Timothy Murray leading state Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives, currently working on education partnerships for Hanscom Air Force Base, and serving as both a member of the 2017 Framingham Superintendent Search Committee and President of the Framingham Centre Nursery School Board, Adam will run a positive campaign discussing his core beliefs and how he intends to support all of Framingham Public School’s students, parents, and employees.

“As a father of young children who currently attend and will attend Framingham Public Schools during the next two decades, I am excited to bring my experiences in education policy to the School Committee. With a record of education-based accomplishments at the federal, state and local levels I look forward to discussing my vision for our school district in the months ahead.”
Adam and his wife, Nicole, are homeowners in Precinct 6. Together with Precinct 9, his home area is part of the new District 4. Adam is the parent of a kindergartener at Dunning, a preschooler at Framingham Centre Nursery School, and a two month old baby.

“I have lived in Framingham for almost a decade. It’s the community Nicole and I chose to become homeowners in, raise a family, and send our kids to public schools. There is a level of excitement as we transition to a city and elect a new School Committee. Yet with that excitement comes an expected level of responsibility from our elected leaders. If elected, I pledge to draw on my strong, education-based record and contribute to the capable, professional, and transparent leadership our public school system deserves.”
Adam has long been a supporter of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and educator development and training. During his time in the Governor’s Office Adam coordinated the creation of the Massachusetts STEM Advisory Council, oversaw the development of the state’s first statewide STEM Plan, secured funding, and authored legislation to expand access to high-quality STEM education for students. He was also the Administration’s liaison to the Local Government Advisory Commission which includes the Massachusetts Association of School Committees.
Adam’s 2017 appointment to the Framingham Superintendent Search Committee was made by the Framingham School Committee. He worked with a diverse, talented group to recommend candidates for the position of Superintendent.
“Filling a vacancy of any public position is essential, and this one was personally important to me because my kids will be directly impacted for years by the superintendent’s decisions,” said Adam Freudberg. “I was frustrated by the circumstances of the previous Superintendent’s time in office. We have thankfully moved past much of that crisis. Yet as we saw with the recent unfortunate layoffs due to poor budgeting under the previous administration, there is much more work to transition and set our schools on a better path under the leadership of Superintendent Tremblay.”
In addition to the common sense concepts of fiscal responsibility, transparency and communication our school district must have, Adam plans to prioritize and support:
- STEM and the Arts Initiatives to Support Career and Life Readiness
- Mental Health and Special Education Supports
- Substance Abuse Prevention
- Strategic Collaborations with Framingham’s Mayor and City Council
Adam received both his Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Government from Clark University. He is a 2013 recipient of the U.S. Army Commander’s Award for Public Service, presented in recognition of his efforts to support the Commonwealth’s military families and active duty military personnel, and is a 2016 graduate of Leadership MetroWest.
