FRAMINGHAM, MA — Gird yourself for possible commuter rail delays on Friday as the MBTA deals with fallout from a Thursday afternoon derailment at the Lansdowne station in Boston. The good news is that the derailment delays should be over after Friday.

On Thursday near 4 p.m., a single car came off the rails at Lansdowne, damaging an inbound track there, according to MBTA officials. Nobody was injured, and the train car that derailed was empty. Officials described the incident as a "low-speed upright derailment."

Crews worked on the tracks overnight, and both inbound and outbound tracks were open as of Friday morning. But, officials said delays could linger into the afternoon hours. Some train trips on Friday morning were running 20 to 30 minutes late.
