FRAMINGHAM, MA — The strong nose of a state police K9 helped track down a key piece of evidence in last week's double-murder along 2nd Street in Framingham. The K9 Roxy found a part of a gun hidden near the scene of the shooting that left James "Manny" Wade, 45, and his son, James Wade, 24, dead.

According to state police, Roxy was called to the scene early Saturday morning to help investigators.

"Despite a strong wind and many distracting odors, Roxy searched methodically, nose pinned to the ground, casting back and forth," state police said in its weekly K9 newsletter.

Roxy stuck her head in a bush near the scene of the shooting, allowing her handler, Sgt. Gary Berlo, to find the grip of a gun that had been tossed there.

Middlesex County prosecutors have charged Aneudy Delgado-Torres, 39, with two counts of murder for killing the Wades. He pleaded not guilty to those and other charges on Wednesday. Prosecutors haven't named an exact motive for the killing, but have said it took place on disputed drug-dealing turf.
