United Way Announces ATHENA International Leadership Award Winner
Kim Comatas of Framingham was this year's ATHENA award winner.
FRAMINGHAM, MA- The United Way of Tri-County announced this year's ATHENA International Leadership award at their first annual Shining Stars Awards Ceremony on Thursday night at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center.
Kim Comatas was given the ATHENA award for her work as a sexuality educator with Partners in Sex Education, where she has worked as an advocate and educator on sex, sexuality and healthy relationships for the past 11 years. She was nominated by State Rep. Jack Lewis.
The annual award is presented to a prominent leader in the MetroWest region for contributing to the advancement of the status of women in the community and the workplace, achievement of professional excellence, meaningful contribution to community service, and active assistance to women in their attainment of professional and leadership skills.

The award is named after the greek goddess known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment.
Comatas was up against six other finalists for the award including Nancy Cantor, Katherine Garrahan, Chitra Mills, Sylvia Ruiz, Mae Showmaker and Christine Tibor.
