The block party was held Tuesday evening next to the police station.

The hosted its seventh annual “National Night Out Block Party” from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday as part of the 29th annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

The event featured amusements and games as well as literature on crime prevention, drug awareness, fraud, personal safety, health, child passenger safety and fire prevention. There were also food and refreshments.

Additionally, police cruisers, motorcycles, and fire department vehicles were on display.

The purpose of National Night Out is to "heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back."
