'Hope For Holly' Tip Campaign Launches For Slain Grafton Girl

Investigators are optimistic about new developments in the cold case of Holly Piirainen, who was found murdered in 1993 at the age of 10.

GRAFTON, MA – Authorities are once again calling on the public to help solve the 1993 murder of 10-year-old Holly Piirainen. Family members and law enforcement launched the "Hope for Holly" campaign Friday in Brimfield, where Piirainen's remains were found after she was abducted from her grandmother's Sturbridge home.

Dr. Sarah Stein, a cold case consultant, said investigators are "encouraged" by recent developments, including witnesses who have recently come forward to identify persons of interest, according to NECN. The investigation will also review potential suspects identified within the first 30 days of the case.

According to Brimfield police, in 95 percent of cold cases the perpetrator has been named within that time period.
