Ellis Paul’s 7:30pm Concert will captivate and charm audiences with his poetic lyrics and unique ability to tap into that shared mystical human connecting point.
“I’m hoping that I lock into other people’s struggle, and if I don’t I’m still entertaining enough for them to get something out of it.” Ellis Paul
“Ellis is one of our best human compasses, marking in melodies and poems where we've been and where we might go if we so choose to.” Nora Guthrie, Woody Guthrie’s daughter
“Despite his success and sense of history, Mr. Paul remains an artist with his eye on the future and an interest in discovering the transformation potential on his music” The New York Times
“One of contemporary folk music’s most influential voices” Dirty Linen
A 3pm FAMILY CONCERT will inspire and engage both adults and kids.
“Songs inspire them [sic] and hook into their brains. It’s like slipping a vitamin into peanut butter. The sensory experience of the music, and I am throwing subliminal useful learning within the songs themselves.” Ellis Paul in an interview with George Howard for Forbes ‘Expanding The Empathy Circle Through Art: Songwriter Ellis Paul Teaches Children’
“It’s nice to see a world-class songwriter focus on kids without lowering either his sights or his standards.” Scott Alarik, Boston Globe
A regarded and respected artist with 19 albums and several movie soundtracks, Ellis Paul is also the recipient of 15 Boston Music Awards. Longtime veteran of the Boston scene, Ellis first came to the area on a Boston College track scholarship. Athletic endeavors, combined with his academic responsibilities, served to rob him of his creativity. When a knee injury forced him to take a year off, Ellis began his “mysterious, lustful partnership” with the guitar after receiving a second hand guitar from his girlfriend’s sister. As Ellis explains, “It became a marriage, a friendship, a lifelong bond that only comes when you find that one thing that becomes an extension of yourself. I played for hours, choosing to write my own original songs and sing instead of studying, socializing or exploring what the Boston streets could offer after hours.”
