'In C' Concert

The Instrumental Department is proud to present Terry Riley’s seminal 1964 piece “In C” on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in Ferrini Dramatics Center at the High School.

“In C” is a landmark of minimalist music. There are 53 melodic fragments that each musician repeats until they decide to move onto the next one. Musicians are to all stay within 5 fragments of each other. The resulting sound creates a musical experience both beautiful and unlike anything the audience may have heard before.

All the fragments work together much like only using the white keys on a piano, hence “In C”.
