Saturdays are for Music Man

Brian Doser of Wenham… aka THE MUSIC MAN… has been performing and entertaining children for a dozen years with over half of those years as The Community House’s very own MUSIC MAN!

Brian: “The joy I feel each week entertaining children is amazing! To see them come back for a visit and see how they’ve grown is so special! I hope the weeks of music and repetition and nice simple rhythms will just add to their enjoyment of music in the future as they grow into more sophisticated things!”

A bit about Brian: “A strange thing happened in 2002. I had a son. Like many parents I realized there were certain things I wasn’t prepared for. Being a musician I felt I knew everything I needed to know about music from the dawn of time to the present, from classical to rock, jazz to reggae. What I didn’t know was children’s music.

My musician friends sent me discs from many lands to educate and delight my new child, but when I went to the store I found a plethora of amazingly bad song material. It was either over produced synthetic sounds, or choruses of children singing out of tune.

When my son turned two, I began to take him to different events and happened along to the Great Harvest Bread Company on the very day the children’s music singer needed to leave for a few months. ‘What a great time to volunteer for something’ I thought to myself. I went home and started arranging all the songs my grandmother used to sing to me in the back seat of our 67 Buick while driving her home after Sunday dinners.”

In addition to Brian’s weekly performances, he serves as a music committee volunteer assisting in the planning The Community House’s Scott Libby Concert Series and performs in the annual Community Carol Sing. Outside of The Community House, Brian frequently performs for larger audiences at local venues and churches.
