Wenham Days Will Go Ahead as Planned Saturday

There are no plans to cancel, postpone or make any changes to Saturday's Wenham Days celebration at Wenham Museum, Wenham Tea House, Wenham Fire Department and other downtown Wenham locations.

"All system are go" for Saturday’s Wenham Days, according to event coordinator Cynthia Novotny at .

The impending arrival of Hurricane Irene will not stop, or even cause any changes, to Saturday’s planned festivities in downtown Wenham.

“Everything is going ahead as planned, because the worst is supposed to come on Sunday,” said Mary Barthelmes, marketing manager for the museum.

Activities will range from a lawn sale to cookout with fun for all ages. Juried artisans will have items for sale and kids activities will include games and facepainting.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes free admission to Wenham Museum. There will be a at 10:30 at the . The will be hosting a cookout and open house and will be having a sidewalk sale.

Silhouette artist Carol LeBeaux will be offering 10-minute sittings for a unique silhouette portrait.

In addition, residents are encouraged to bring their dolls to get advice of care and storage of their doll from Wenham Museum's Doll Curator Betty Nett. She will also minor repairs and doll identification and provide referrals if doll owners want an appraisal or advance repairs.

A hurricane threatened at least one Wenham Days event in the past, Barthelmes said, but it fizzled before it arrived. There has also been some rainy Wenham Days in the past but it didn’t slow down the activities.

This year’s rain date is Sunday, but Sunday’s forecast looks much worse than Saturday.
