📰 News we're reading

• Haverhill Offers Nonprofits School Facility Rental Fee Relief (whav.net) — Haverhill nonprofits that regularly rent school gyms, auditoriums, or classrooms could see some relief under a revised fee plan approved by the School Committee. While rental rates have risen to help balance the district's $137 million budget, officials now plan to negotiate long-term agreements so local nonprofits can better afford space while the district still recovers its facility costs.

• Shellfish Harvesters Receive Healey Help for Haverhill Sewer Main Failure (whav.net) — A major sewer main failure in Haverhill led to a 12-day closure of North Shore shellfish beds, and the state is now sending $300,000 in relief to affected harvesters. Gov. Maura Healey met with shellfish workers in Essex to distribute checks, aiming to offset lost income during the shutdown while officials continue monitoring Merrimack River water quality.
