Fingerprints Led To Arrest Of Break-In Suspect: Police
Paul M. McDonald faces charges related to a July 7 break-in.

HINGHAM, MA — A Stoughton man was arrested and faces charges related to a Hingham break-in, police said.
Paul M. McDonald, 36, was arrested Wednesday and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, larceny from a building, and larceny over $250, according to the Hingham Police Department.
On July 7, a break-in was reported at a home on HMS Fitzroy Drive. The victim told police that they returned home after being away for a week and found their home had been broken into. McDonald allegedly entered the home through a rear ground floor bedroom window that had been pushed open and the screen cut. A chair had been placed in front of the window to hide the damage.

Jewelry, including a Rolex watch, a laptop, and prescription medication were taken from the home. The items totaled approximately $8,000, police said.
Police were able to connect McDonald to the break-in through fingerprints located on the window near the cut screen. Neighbors also described a man who had been visiting a nearby home the week before.

On July 13, Hingham police received confirmation from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation that the fingerprints matched the McDonald's.
During his arraignment in Hingham District Court, McDonald was ordered held on $1,000 cash bail and will return to court on August 2, 2017.
