Hazmat Scare At Norwell State Police Barracks
When a state trooper brought a woman into booking, he found a substance on her clothing, which she said was fentanyl, state police said.
NORWELL, MA — State Police called in a hazmat team to the Norwell State Police Barracks after an officer was exposed to a white powder troopers believed to be fentanyl. Since then, the regional hazardous materials team tested the powder and determined the substance wasn't fentanyl.
Around 1:40 a.m., on Friday, a state trooper arrested a women on class A drug possession charges stemming from an outstanding warrant. When the state trooper brought the woman into booking, he found a substance on her clothing, which she said was fentanyl, state police said.
State troopers called in a hazmat team, and the police officer was taken to South Shore Hospital out of an abundance of caution. The officer showed no signs of fentanyl exposure and was released.

The hazmat team tested the trooper, suspect, police cruiser, and the barracks. No fentanyl was found in any of the tests, state police said.
