Hingham High School Class of 2013 Graduates
A total of 276 Hingham High School seniors graduated in front of over 1,000 friends and family members at the school's football field on Saturday.

They are athletes, dancers, artists, actors, volunteers, musicians and scholars and most of all they are all friends. Hingham High School saw a total of 276 students from the class of 2013 graduate on Saturday evening.
From the ovation given to each student that received their diploma, to hugs and handshakes shared by students after it was over, it appeared evident that this 2013 senior class was truly close and ready to support each other in the next phase of their lives.
Saturday’s ceremony was spiced up by Class President Alison Woody’s speech.

The student president gave examples of how close-knit and unselfish this class really was by describing their goodwill to help the community.
“This was the class, who even though it was freezing and raining, came to clean up the beach in April,” she said. “We were the ones who made a difference to the veterans who bravely served and showed our support by putting flags on the graves on Memorial Day. We were the class who can say we brought school spirit back and once had an awesome Mardi Gras themed homecoming dance. It was the seniors who came to sports games all decked out in white, ready to support our classmates.”

The Class of 2013 gave up a chance of having a free prom, by donating their revenue to the “One Fund” and Children’s Hospital and Principal Dr. Paula Girouard-McCann praised them for it by saying they have truly lived up to the school’s mission of becoming productive, responsible members of society.
Girouard-McCann wished success to the entire class, by quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson, “To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”"
Valedictorian Elizabeth Durand joked on whether 13 was bad luck or in fact lucky.
She recommended her fellow graduates to work hard and good fortunes would come.
"As we venture forward from Hingham High School, remember your passionate spirit, the importance of community and let your voices be heard."
