• Light plant capital upgrade funding off table for now; special town meeting voters will consider related article (hinghamanchor.com) — Hingham voters will no longer see a $70 million light plant funding article on the Oct. 29 special town meeting warrant, but will instead consider whether to seek state approval for 30-year bonding. The reliability project, including a new underground line from Weymouth to Hingham and a second substation at the Hingham Transfer Station, would ultimately be paid through ratepayer revenues. Final cost impacts await a pending rate study and state siting approval. 
• Commissioner Column 8-28-26 (mass.gov) — Hingham's farmers market was one of just three stops highlighted during Massachusetts Farmers Market Week, underscoring its role in local food access and community life. The state agriculture commissioner's column also recaps new farm disaster aid, milestones for nutrition programs like HIP, and a busy season of fairs, farm tours, and urban agriculture events across Massachusetts that indirectly benefit Hingham growers and shoppers.
• Select board approves first phase of converting bus route from flag system to fixed stops (hulltimes.com) — The MBTA's Route 714 safety and accessibility project is moving ahead, with the select board approving phase-one fixed bus stop locations that include one stop in Hingham. Most of the 35 initial stops will be in Hull, plus one in Cohasset, as planners balance accessibility, proximity to key destinations, and neighborhood impacts. This approval lets designers start detailed work on costs, utilities, and ADA compliance.
