Hingham Moms’ Creation Lands in Harvard Bookstore
Two Hingham mothers' laundry-free linens will be sold at the Harvard COOP.

Last year, Hingham moms Joan Ripple and Kirsten Lambert invented disposable bed sheets for college students. This March, their hot new product will be sold at the Harvard University’s campus bookstore, the COOP.
Ripple and Labert’s “Bedsox” are biodegradable and compostable bed sheets that can be used for several weeks and simply discarded in the trash or compost instead of washing.
The sheets and pillowcases will debut at Harvard on Saturday March 2, with a promotional event during the Harvard Junior Parents Weekend. The event will feature a chance to meet the Ripple and Labert, sample the Bedsox, and enter a raffle for a Nook Simple Touch. The launch event will be take place from 12-5 p.m.

Ripple and Lambert hope their invention will eliminate bed bug infestations, viruses, and allergen levels, and not to mention the characteristic dorm-room odor.
“For moms, the need for the sheets is a hygiene issue- for kids it’s a convenient issue.” Lambert said in an interview with Patch last August. “ Moms want to help their kids stay clean.”

In addition to helping students stay sanitized, the sheets are also environmentally friendly. They save energy, water and detergent. On top of that, they are chemical-free and dye-free.
"Anything that makes life easier and cleaner in an environmentally friendly way is sure to be a hit," Ripple said.
