Hingham Native Named General Manager of NBA Team
Ryan McDonough, a 1998 HHS graduate was named the General Manager of one NBA franchise on Tuesday.

The Phoenix Suns named Hingham native Ryan McDonough the team’s general manager on Tuesday.
McDonough, age 33, spent the last three seasons as the assistant GM of the Boston Celtics.
The newly hired NBA General Manager is the son of the late Boston Globe columnist Will McDonough. His brother Sean is a sports broadcaster on ESPN, and other brother Terry is the Director of Player Personnel for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.

McDonough grew up in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School in 1998.
He was first hired by the Celtics front office in 2003 as a special assistant to basketball operations. In the last three seasons as an assistant GM, he helped Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge on all basketball-related matters, while being principally responsible for the draft evaluation of college and international players, according to a press release on the Suns website.

McDonough will now look to rebuild a Phoenix team that finished 25-57, worst in the Western Conference.
Phoenix will introduce the Hingham native during a press conference on Thursday at the team’s arena, the US Airways Center.
