Hingham Senior Receives Publishers Clearing House Scam
Luckily, the senior didn't lose any money.

From the Hingham Police Department:
We have to share a "win". An 81 year old resident recognized a scam attempt and did not become a victim this week.
On June 15 a resident called to have an Officer come to his house about a fraud. The resident said he received a phone call in the morning from a person claiming to be a representative from Publishers Clearing House. The caller informed the resident that he was the winner of 5.5 million dollars and a 2016 Mercedes.

The caller said the winnings could be delivered directly to his home today as soon as he paid the taxes on his winnings. He requested the resident send a money order for $850 through Western Union and gave him directions to the nearest Walmart.
The caller asked the resident not to inform anyone yet that he was the winner and agreed that he could be listed as an anonymous winner. The caller then transferred the resident to another person, who asked him to send the money order to Jamaal Riley of Brooklyn, New York.
