Hingham Upskirting Suspect Arrested
A Randolph man accused of taking upskirt photos of women at the Hingham Barnes & Noble has been arrested.

A Randolph man took upskirting photos of women in the Hingham Barnes & Noble, police say.
Andrew J. Gavin, 23, charged with photographing sexual or intimate parts without consent and accosting or annoying a person of the opposite sex during his Sept. 14 arraignment at Hingham District Court according to the Hingham Police Department.
On Aug. 15, the store manager told police that a female customer had reported this incident to them. The customer said she noticed a man who was near her, but she was not aware of his intentions until she felt something graze her leg. She then noticed the man had put a phone under her skirt. The victim notified the manager, but the man left before police arrived.

After Hingham police posted photos of the suspect on Facebook, they received several tips within hours from members of the public who believed they recognized the suspect from other cases, including one in Walpole.
Detectives went to the suspect’s last known address in Canton and learned that he was possibly living in Randolph. Detectives were unable to locate him but were able to contact him by phone. They made several unsuccessful attempts to meet him.

A warrant for his arrest was obtained on Aug. 26, with Gavin being taken into custody by UMass Amherst police on Sept. 12.
This is not the first time Gavin faces these charges. He has two open cases in Wrentham District Court and Dedham District Court for the same charges.
Bail for Gavin was set at $1,000 cash and was ordered to stay away from the Derby Street Shoppes. He is due back in court on Oct. 9.
