On view: September 16 to October 5
Award-winning Boston photographer Darlene DeVita exhibits a photography series showcasing prints of artists, friends, clients and strangers, posing with cameras from her vintage collection. The show includes super-exposed “portraits” of her antique cameras using the image transfer method. This process uses inkjet transfer film. While the images are processed in Photoshop, they are transferred to wood or paper with a “super sauce,” combining digital and analog processing.
Painter Susan B. Le fevre ~ “Everyday Warriors”
Opening Reception: Friday, October 7, 6 to 8 pm
On view: October 7 to November 2
Warriors are courageous and carry on in the face of challenges and danger. In our world, which shifts with such immediacy, all of us are required to be emotionally and physically flexible and, above all, courageous.
Susan’s work has been affected by witnessing people in this new world: refugees who wander to find shelter; the forgotten poor who have little means to provide for themselves or those they love; returning soldiers/warriors; and the average man. All need to be warriors in the face of the complexities of our days. Witness the anxiety of these challenges reflected in the faces and figures in her work.
“Small Works”
Opening reception: Friday, November 4, 6 to 8 pm
On view: November 4 to 30
The James will host its first Small Works show in November, featuring small but exceptional art in a variety of media by local and emerging artist from the South Shore. Small Works shows are a popular event due to the small scale and affordability. Artists interested in submitting their work for this show should contact the James at 781-659-7100.
Painters Margaret McWethy and Lynne McCauley
Opening Reception: Friday, December 2, 6 to 8 pm
On view: December 2 to January 4
