Kingston Woman Faces 8 Charges From Hingham Police Pursuit: PD

The woman is scheduled to appear in Hingham District Court for a dangerousness hearing.

HINGHAM, MA — A Kingston woman police said crashed into several cars, including a police cruiser during a pursuit, was arraigned Tuesday on eight charges. She is being held without bail, pending a psychological evaluation, police said.

Police haven't released the woman's identity because Thursday's crash stemmed from a mental health issue, according to police. She was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation, failure to stop for police, and leaving the scene of a crash after causing property damage (four counts). The woman is scheduled to appear in Hingham District Court for a dangerousness hearing on Feb. 8.

Around 3 p.m., on Thursday, police said they were called to the intersection of Cushing and Whiting streets, following a report of a woman threatening to commit suicide. When officers tried talking to the woman, they said she drove off. A police chase started on Whiting Street. According to police, the pursuit led to several cars, including a police cruiser getting struck. No injuries to other drivers or officers were reported.
