Over 36 Grams Of Cocaine Found In Traffic Stop: Police

HINGHAM, MA — A Dorchester man faces a drug charge after police allegedly found cocaine during a traffic stop.
Jose M. Nunez, 27, was arraigned Tuesday in Hingham District Court on charges of trafficking over 36 grams of cocaine, according to the Hingham Police Department. He was ordered held on $10,000 bail.
At about 2:36 p.m. Monday, Officer Scott Tracey conducted a license plate check of a 2013 Nissan Altima that was in front of his cruiser while on Lincoln Street. The check showed the Nissan’s owner had two outstanding arrest warrants for motor vehicle offenses. He pulled the Nissan over, verified that Nunez was the driver and owner, and placed him under arrest.

Once under arrest, Tracey allegedly removed a large bag from the driver’s pants pocket that contained 56 smaller bags that were each filled with a white powdery substance that appeared to be cocaine.
No additional drugs were found. The contents of the 56 bags, which weighed over 38 grams, tested positive for cocaine.

Nunez faces at least 3 1/2 years in prison for the drug charge. He is due back in court July 13.
