South Shore Conservatory Opens Registration for 2016 Summer Arts Programs

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces open registration for their summer 2016 performing arts programs for students of all ages at their Hingham and Duxbury campuses.

Students who play an instrument or love to sing are invited to participate in long running programs such as Summer Music Festival, Summer Vocal Institute or Flute Symphony. New to SSC’s program offerings last year were American Music Camp for Strings for students age four through adult who play violin, viola, cello, bass or guitar, or Rock Camp for middle and high school students on any instrument or voice. Students interested in dance can participate in Summer Ballet Camp for students ages seven to eighteen.

New this year for adults is Music Educator Retreat 2016. This two-day retreat offers all music educators an opportunity for renewal and reflections on the elements of effective teaching. Adults may also participate in American Music Camp for Strings and Flute Symphony.

Other music and arts programs available this summer include The Arts Tell a Story for ages three to six, Drum & Sing for ages four to six, Primo Voice Class for ages seven to nine, and Mezzo Voice Class for ages ten to thirteen. SSC’s Music Together® class offers young students a gentle introduction to the world of music, infants through age four, offered at both Conservatory locations and at South Shore Community Center in Cohasset, starting the week of June 6.

Drama takes center stage this summer with Curtain Going Up for ages four to seven at the Hingham campus and Let’s Put on a Show for ages six to eleven at the Duxbury campus.

All students enrolled in SSC’s summer programs are admitted free to the Conservatory’s Evenings Under the Stars and Wacky Wednesdays 2016 performances at the Jane Carr Amphitheater in Hingham.
