Featuring interactive workshops on futuristic music and music technology

South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Jazz/Rock/Pop (JRP) department presents it first JRP Day, themed Music to the Future, on Saturday, May 7, from 4:30 to 9:00 pm at One Conservatory Drive in Hingham. The free event invites student musicians to enjoy fun, interactive, hands-on educational workshops and performances by SSC faculty, students, and distinguished guests, with a focus on the future of music.

The JRP event kicks off with a group rhythm circle, followed by workshops on home recording with technology specialist Jeff Largent, 10-stringed Chapman Sticks presented by progressive jazz metal trio GEPH, and the future of technology presented by Berklee professor Loudon Stearns.

After a brief pizza break, the event continues with SSC student composers officially releasing the first SSC Composition Book, with a concert of music from the book. Following the release, SSC vocalist Meredith Borden and American composer and microtonal guitarist Jon Catler perform together. The event concludes with a blues jam showcasing SSC rock band No Bueno.
