South Shore Conservatory's Wacky Wednesdays Family Concert Series Presents Family Entertainer Zak Morgan

His storytelling style is a cross between Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein

South Shore Conservatory’s Wacky Wednesdays family concert series presents Grammy nominee Zak Morgan, performing his special brand of engaging songs for adults and children, to the Jane Carr Amphitheater, One Conservatory Drive in Hingham, on Wednesday, July 27 at 10 am.

Wacky Wednesdays is one of two series in the Conservatory’s diverse Summer Spotlight outdoor summer entertainment series, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this season. The family series is sponsored by The Harold and Avis Goldstein Trust, with WATD as the media partner. Summer Spotlight also includes Evenings Under the Stars Saturday evening concerts.

Morgan is known for his humorous stories and his sophisticated yet accessible wordplay. He has the ability to connect with audience members young and old alike. His interactive concerts are at times playful and at other times touching, and they are always authentic and heartwarming. Morgan is funny, kind, unique and unguarded in his performances, and audience members leave the show feeling like they made a new friend, regardless of their age.

In describing Morgan’s style, Rick Bird of the Cincinnati Post says, “Morgan sounds a bit like singer Cat Stevens, and his storytelling is an inspired cross between Dr. Seuss-style word games and the sly, edginess of Shel Silverstein. In short, it's children's music that adults can love.”

Morgan has released three critically acclaimed records and one DVD for children, and was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award in 2003 – a rare feat for an independent artist, and is working on his fourth. He is also a huge proponent of literacy. “Encourage children to read and imagine” is Morgan’s mantra.
