Two Weymouth Men Charged in Hingham Car Wash Handgun Theft

Police arrested two men who a have "significant" criminal records with the theft of two semiautomatic handguns from the Hingham Car Wash last week.

Police charged George Dabrolet Jr, 31 of  1134 Middle St., Weymouth and Michael J. Shuman, 31, of 1136 Middle St. #1, Weymouth with unarmed burglary, possession of burglarious instruments, larceny from a building, two counts of larceny of a firearm, malicious damage to property, and conspiracy.

Dabrolet Jr. is being held without bail and Shuman is being held on $20,000 cash bail, police said.

Although the arrest was made, investigators are still searching for the handguns that were stolen.

The two guns were stolen the night of Feb. 26 from a wall safe at the Hingham Car Wash after Dabrolet and Shuman allegedly broke into the business and vandalized it.

Police said the suspects entered the building  and destroyed electrical and alarm boxes and then  ransacked the office, file cabinets, removed the wall safe containing the guns and unsuccessfully attempted to open and remove another larger safe.

Hingham police confirmed an employee at the had a license to own the from the Summer Street business. The business’s two fully-loaded black Beretta semi automatics were lawfully stored there because they were locked up, police said

Dabrolet Jr. and Shuman both have “significant” criminal records, according to police.

Dabrolet was arrested last August after an o  His charges were dismissed without prejudice in Hingham District Court in November and  Hingham police said he was on bail from his prior arrest at the time of last week’s burglary.

Hingham police said their arrests were the result of task force made of numerous police departments targeting overnight commercial burglaries.

Investigators from the Old Colony Police Anti-Crime Task Force which includes Hingham Police, worked with investigators from Boston, Quincy, Weymouth and Braintree, Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate, Rockland, Hanover and State Police to solve the Car Wash burglary.
