JP Shooting Suspect Court Update

UPDATED on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 4:50 p.m.: West Roxbury Municipal Court Judge David Breen ordered Josiah Zachery held without bail, a recent press release indicated. Zachery will return to court on March 12.

One person was shot on Orchard Street and Centre Street at 10:32 a.m. near the Soldiers Monument, according to the Boston Globe.

The person was killed in the shooting. The gunman also fired shots at a police officer. The officer was not injured, WCVB reported.

The victim was identified Thursday by the Suffolk district attorney’s office as Kenneth Lamour.

The suspect was identified as Josiah Zachery of Hyde Park. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in West Roxbury Municipal Court. He does not yet have a lawyer, according to WCVB.

The victim was part of a group called Roca, which helps at-risk young people by providing work. The organization says it is cooperating with police.
