Bonnie Brodner running for Re-Election to School Committee

I am excited to announce that I will be running for re-election to the Lexington School Committee.  I have learned much from the last three years on the School Committee,

including just how complicated most issues are.  Decisions need to be made by including as many stakeholders as possible in conversations, listening to all sides of issues, and determining what outcome will work best for the goal of educating children.  With your help, I look forward to another three years to continue my work.

Since the beginning of my time on the committee we have, among other things, eliminated some and reduced other fees, we have had two successful elementary school building renovations and are about to complete construction of a new elementary school under budget and ahead of schedule and we continue to monitor the professional climate between teachers, staff and administration as our Superintendent and the President of the Lexington Education Association work together to improve relationships.

I was part of the interview committee that hired our new Director of Special Education Ellen Sugita.  In the few months that she has been with us in Lexington she has had open, honest dialogs with teachers, parents and administrators on all levels about ways to improve the Special Education Department. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee together with Ms. Sugita and her department to oversee that improvement.
