Dr. Shaobing Su is a Ph. D and researcher on applied development for young children in Tufts University. She specializes in the research study of development of Chinese American kids. She gave wonderful speech on the topic: core issues often ignored by parents during the development of Chinese American kids. She shares with audiences about her study results and some thoughts based on research of development between American youth and Chinese-American youth in the past few years. While first generation Chinese American has been greatly successful and settled down, there is huge challenge facing them about the healthy development of American born Chinese (ABC) Children, the second generation. Dr. Su shares her thoughts and observations with audiences through her past research study.

She raised the key issues facing ABC development when they are growing in the diverse society, and how to solve them which effectively help these kids develop better in the long run. One of issues is "ABC does not have strong sense of belonging to Chinese culture". She suggests Chinese American parents need to care more about their children's thoughts and try best to balance between Chinese culture and American culture. She also shares her professor Richard Lerner 's Five Cs Model of Positive Youth Development(PYD) , which caring and connection are 2 key missing parts from our Chinese parents.
