Shifting Gears - Safe Driving for Seniors presented by the Registry of Motor Vehicles

Driver safety is an important and often sensitive issue for seniors. The changes of normal aging can sometimes interfere with the ability to drive.  Learn to understand and reduce these risk factors. Seniors can drive safely longer by taking care of health issues and incorporating safe driving practices.

Michele Ellicks, Community Outreach Coordinator from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, will present an informative program at Youville on issues facing elder drivers, their families and caregivers, and strategies for supporting successful outcomes.

The program will discuss:

  • information on medications and their effects on driving
  • alternative forms of transportation
  • the most recent research concerning mature driver
  • details on the new safe driver law and reporting procedures
  • requirements to apply for a handicap placard or plate as well as a Massachusetts identification card

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to lisayarin@youvillehouse.org or call Lisa, 781-761-1335
