How Well are Lexington Teachers Paid?

The Boston Business Journal released its annual list based on the average teacher salary in each community.

LEXINGTON, MA - Public school teachers in Lexington were paid above the state average once again in 2015.

Earlier this month, the Boston Business Journal released a full list of average annual salaries of public educators in each community, based on data from the Department of Early and Secondary Education.

According to the Boston Business Journal study, the average salary of public school teachers in Lexington last year was $80,975, more than $6,000 more than the statewide average of $74,737.

The district was 48th out of the 317 school districts that reported data to the state. Benefits such as summers off and pensions, negotiated between individual school districts and unions, were not included in the data.

Average wages were determined by dividing each district's total salaries and stipends by the number of full-time teachers employed in 2015.
