Lexington Author Pens Book About Hamilton-Burr Rivalry
"Rivals Unto Death" will be published Feb. 21.
LEXINGTON, MA – A new book by Lexington author Rick Beyer explores the lifelong rivalry between Alexander Hamilton and former vice president Aaron Burr, which culminated in a fatal duel for Hamilton.
"Rivals Unto Death: Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr" will be published by Hachette Books on Feb. 21. It examines the friendship and rivalry of the two titular figures, in what Beyer described to the Boston Globe as "a murder mystery in which we know who pulled the trigger, but we’re still trying to figure out why."
Beyer began researching the complicated relationship between the two men for a shelved History Channel documentary in 2004, but it wasn't until last year that his publisher requested the book as the Broadway musical "Hamilton" grew in popularity, the Globe reported.
