Lexington Girls' Soccer Blanked by Belmont

Belmont remains undefeated with 2-0 win.

The Lexington girls' soccer team was blanked 2-0 by neighboring Middlesex League foe Belmont Thursday afternoon, as the Marauders preserved their unbeaten streak at Lincoln Field.

Belmont goalie Nina Perrotta got the shutout, and was especially hard at work in the second half, making key stops on Lexington's Annelise Driscoll and Nandi Mehta.

In windy and wet conditions, Belmont demonstrated superb ball control skills, especially in the first half. In the second half, Caruso converted a pass from Russo 49 seconds after the break to give Belmont a 2-0, following a first half goal by Russo.

"Belmont is an excellent team that plays excellent defense," Lexington coach Frank Pagliuca said. "That being said, we still were able to create several chances. We just weren't able to convert while they did. That was the difference."
