Lexington High Grad Named MassBay Student Trustee

Xavier Mursalin is a 2013 graduate of Lexington High School.

WELLESLEY HILLS, MA—A Lexington High School graduate has earned a high honor at Massachusetts Bay Community College.

Xavier Mursalin, a 2013 graduate of Lexington High School, has been named as MassBay's new Student Trustee. He was sworn in at Needham Town Hall on Feb. 23.

“I am honored to serve my peers as the student voice at MassBay,” said Mursalin in a statement. “I look forward to working with the Board to ensure a successful future for the students and the MassBay community.”

Mursalin was involved in Lexington's Metco Program, and graduated in 2013. He is a member of the Phi Theta kappa honor society, and was a Student Government Association Senator since the Fall of 2015. Mursalin plans to transfer to a 4-year college to pursue a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

“Serving as trustee is an important responsibility,” said MassBay Interim President Yves Salomon-Fernandez in a statement. “I am pleased that his peers saw Xavier as one who could represent them well and help steward the institution toward an even brighter future.”
