Lexington School Committee Asks Citizens' Help in Superintendent Search

An online survey is available.

The following is from the Lexington School Committee:

As you may be aware, the Lexington School Committee has initiated its search for a new superintendent. To counsel us through this important process, we have retained the services of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in assisting Committees with the consideration of candidates for superintendent.

A key step in this process is to identify the characteristics we will be seeking in our new superintendent. We would greatly appreciate your input and assistance with this important task.

We, therefore, invite you to participate in this process by:

  • Attending an Community Focus Group

The Community Focus Groups, which will be facilitated by a member of our consultant firm, will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014, from 7—9 PM at Clarke Middle School auditorium and on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, from 10 AM—12 Noon, at Clarke Middle School auditorium. These forums are open to all.

When you enter the online survey, you will first be asked to identify which stakeholder group you belong to - Administrators, Community Members, Parents with Children in the District, School Committee Member, Students, Support Staff and Teachers. Please choose the category that best describes you. If you fit into more than one category, and you feel your responses would differ depending on that category, you may take the survey again using that category.

After choosing your group, simply follow the directions on the survey. As you respond, please remember that all characteristics listed are desirable, but we are interested in knowing your perceptions about which characteristics are “most important” for Lexington Public Schools.

The survey will be available for Lexington residents and employees to complete from September 8, 2014 until September 25, 2014.

If you or somebody you know is unable to complete this survey electronically, please contact Miriam Sousa at 781-861-2550, ext 212.

The Lexington School Committee, along with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, appreciate your willingness to participate and look forward to learning your perspective.

Sincerely,

Margaret E. Coppe
