Obama Taps Former MBTA Chief for Fed Post
Beverly Scott resigned from the MBTA this winter as the system crumbled amid a slew of storms.

Beverly Scott, the former general manager of the MBTA, was appointed to the National Transportation Safety Board after resigning from her post this past winter.
President Obama nominated Scott to the board, among seven others, the White House announced.

Obama said in a statement,“I am confident that these experienced and hardworking individuals will help us tackle the important challenges facing America, and I am grateful for their service. I look forward to working with them.”
The former head of the MBTA was forced to leave her position this past winter when the transit system crumbled amid an abundance of brutal storms. Scott announced her resignation on February 11 after a great deal of public outcry over the T’s inept abilities to accommodate commuters.

Scott’s new employer is an “independent federal agency charged by Congress with investigating every civil aviation accident the United States and significant accidents in other modes of transportation – railroad, highway, marine and pipeline,” according to NTSB.gov.
Scott had been with the MBTA since 2012.
