PHOTOS: DPW Day Delights Kids and Adults

The annual event invites the public to the Department of Public Works headquarters on Bedford Street so the kids can climb on trucks and their caretakers can chat with DPW staff.

Little kids love big trucks.

And there were plenty of both Thursday, May 24, at the ' annual DPW Day event, which invites the public to the Bedford Street headquarters in .

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there was a steady stream of local families who came ready to check out the DPW fleet and ask questions about things like composting. And the weather totally cooperated.

In addition to the always popular truck-climbing, young children loved looking at the pollywogs plucked from Parker Meadow and crawfish from the Old Res. Other attractions included a mini dam-building setup and the new-this-year sandbox and mini metal detectors.
