Photo of the Day: Waldorf School Donates for Playground Renovation

The following was provided by the Waldorf School of Lexington.

Robert Schiappacasse, director of the , presented Town Recreation Department representatives Sheila Butts and Dave Pinsonneault with a check for $22,500 at an informal ceremony on Monday, June 11 at 6:45 p.m., on the town playground adjacent to the school campus at 739 Massachusetts Avenue.

The town will renovate the playground this summer, providing improved access, resilient surfacing, and other upgrades. The playground was last renovated in the 1980s. Parents and friends of the Waldorf School community raised $22,500 at the school’s annual benefit Gala in March, and through subsequent donations, to allow the town to enhance the design with additional equipment.

“Our students enjoy using the playground at recess every day, and upgrading the equipment also benefits our friends and neighbors," says Schiappacasse. "It was an easy decision for us to make the playground renovation with the Town the beneficiary of our Special Appeal at this year’s Gala. We are proud of the generosity of our school community, and happy to continue a tradition of collaboration with the Town.”
