Police Log: A Bicycle Crash and Golf Club Larcenists Bagged

Monday, July 2

12:05 a.m. – Erratic operation of a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Marrett Road and Route 128-95.

8:06 a.m. – A house on Hancock Street was reportedly egged.

10:20 a.m. – A Lexington native came into the station to report an alleged fraud that occurred in France.

12:47 p.m. – A parking complaint came in regarding vehicles parking too close to the intersection of Bedford Street and Simonds Road.

2:25 p.m. – A Fifer Lane resident reported finding a piece of mail addressed to her that was open in her mailbox. The responding officer advised her about checking her credit cards for fraudulent charges. 

3:04 p.m. – Police responded to a call from reporting two men were trying to enter the locked club house. The men reportedly fled Hill Street in a vehicle, which police located and stopped on Bedford Street. As a result of the stop, officers found several stolen golf clubs and equipment in the vehicle, which were tied to courses in several communities. Eric J. Sweeney, 41, of 81 Birch St., Lynn, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property over $250 and seatbelt violations.  William F. Fitzpatrick, 39, of 102 Gled Hill Road, Everett, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle after his license was suspended, seatbelt violations, operating a motor vehicle without his license in his possession, receiving stolen property over $250 and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

6:05 p.m. – A call came in reporting MBTA bus brake fire in the area of Mass Ave and Pelham Road.

10:31 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Waltham Street and Hayden Avenue, Ramon J. Oquendo, 19, of 20 Campbell St., Woburn, was arrested and charged with being minor transporting liquor, carrying a dangerous weapon and littering. According to police, Oquendo pitched a beer can out the window of a car he was a passenger in, and had a switchblade in his pocket, which offers found during a search.

11:08 p.m. – A fireworks complaint came in from Whipple Road.

11:56 p.m. – A fireworks complaint came in from Mass Ave.

Tuesday, July 3

1:14 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident on Mass Ave.

1:58 a.m. – A hit-and-run accident causing property damage was reported in the area of Lowell and Maple streets.

10:07 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Maple Street and Carnegie Place.

10:29 a.m. – Police responded to a burglar alarm activation on Briggs Road and found a window beside front door was broken and the door ajar, but nothing appeared to be missing from the home.  

10:31 a.m. – A cruiser checked out a report of a dog left in a vehicle on Bedford Street.

3:25 p.m. – A cruiser checked out a possible domestic dispute on Vaille Avenue.

Wednesday, July 4

11:27 a.m. – Erratic operation of a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Bedford Street and Worthen Road.

12:31 p.m. – A lacrosse stick was reported on Lincoln Street.

3:35 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a dog locked in a car on Bedford Street.

9:25 p.m. – A fireworks complaint came in from Webster Road.

9:33 p.m. – A woman called 911 and reported her boyfriend threw things at her during an argument they had while driving down Route 2.  By the time police determined her location, the couple was in Newton, so Newton Police took it from there.

10:53 p.m. – A caller reported some youths in the town pool on Worthen Road. The pool-hoppers were reportedly gone on arrival.

11:22 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop, in the area of Meriam Street and Patriots Drive police located a minor transporting alcohol.

Thursday, July 5

9:51 a.m. – A caller reported a disabled truck was blocking the roadway on Goodwin Road.

12:28 p.m. – Animal control was notified of a possible rabid fox in the area of Concord Avenue.

12:50 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Mass Ave and Marrett Road.

3:29 p.m. – A Blossomcrest Road resident reported a suspicious male in the backyard.

4:07 p.m. – A supervisor at Walgreens on Bedford Street contacted police seeking advice about what to do with a knife he seized from an employee who brought it into work. The knife turned out not to be illegal, police said.

4:24 p.m. – Some words were reportedly written in fresh cement at a sidewalk construction site in the area of Mass Ave and Bloomfield Street. It’s unclear what was written as the incident report had not been completed at the time of this writing.

4:54 p.m. – A large pothole was reported in the roadway on Lincoln Street.

5:05 p.m. – A Highland Avenue resident reported finding in her front yard three plastic bags containing jewelry, American currency and foreign currency. Police took custody of the found property.

6:14 p.m. – While on routine patrol, an officer noticed a screen removed from a house on Grove Street. Further investigation determined the home had been entered through an open window. Detectives processed the scene, and it appears as though nothing is missing.  

10:03 p.m. –Police responded to a report of a biker down and bleeding in the area of the and Fletcher Avenue. According to the incident report, the cyclist drove straight into the gate at the intersection. DPW notified fence to the parking lot had to be cut and the cyclist, a 51-year-old man, was transported to Lahey Clinic, the police report said.
