Should the Lexington School System Cancel Classes Wednesday?

The Lexington school system canceled classes Tuesday ahead of a blizzard that dumped about 2 feet of snow on the region as of Tuesday morning.

No announcement has been made yet as to whether school will reopen Wednesday. Some local schools have already canceled Wednesday classes.

Here’s the latest National Weather Service forecast through Wednesday morning:

• Tuesday: Snow could be heavy at times. Areas of dense freezing fog. High near 15. Wind chill values as low as -3. Blustery, with a north wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible.
• Tuesday night: Snow, mainly before 11pm. Patchy fog before 9pm. Patchy freezing fog before 7pm. Low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -5. Blustery, with a northwest wind 14 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
• Wednesday night: A slight chance of snow before 8am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 23. Wind chill values as low as -7. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
