
Spring has sprung for athletic teams, as several got the new season under way this week.
On Tuesday, the LHS girls’ lacrosse team over Wakefield. Amanda Bouchard racked up six goals, while Megan McNabb scored four and Fiona Fitzgerald and Bridgett Everett put in three apiece for the Minutemen, as they downed Wakefield by 10 goals.
On Wednesday, the Minutemen’s boys’ tennis team with a big win over Woburn High School. Despite playing without its two top players, Lexington still managed to sweep the Tanners, winning all but three games in the match’s 10 sets.

Also this week, Patch took the opportunity to preview the spring season for Lexington’s baseball and softball teams.
The Minuteman softball team has from the 2010 team that made an improbable run deep into the North Division 1 tournament. But coach Frank Paguliuca said that was last year, and this season, the Minutemen are primed to return to the form that won them the D-1 state title in 2008 and ’09.

As for the baseball team, it was another typical spring preseason spent mostly indoors for the Minutemen. Still, with plenty of talent back, coach Tom O’Grady was sure in time for Friday’s opener at Lowell. The game may have carried extra meaning for LHS, as Lowell ousted it from the sectional tournament in 2010.
