Lexington Blue Sox finish off summer season with fourth straight Intercity League championship.

This week, the Lexington Blue Sox added to their Intercity League dynasty with a fourth straight league championship.

Manager Rick DeAngelis' club wrapped up its eighth title in 16 years with a sweep of the Watertown Reds in the best-of-5 final series. Lexington won two at home and once at Watertown's Victory Field.

The Blue Sox put the finishing touches on their latest title with a 7-1 win at Lexington High School on Wednesday night. It was the first time in the current run that Lexington wrapped up the title on its home field.

Champagne flowed and music blared from the sound system as the Blue Sox celebrated on the pitcher's mound.

Star right fielder Dan Graham kicked off a six-run, sixth-inning rally to propel his team to victory. The 34-year-old Graham said afterwards that he is leaning toward retirement.

Lexington took a commanding series lead at Watertown with a 13-1 victory on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Blue Sox opened the championship series with a tight 2-0 win. That snapped Watertown's playoff win streak at five games.

Drew Brzozowski was terrific in the victory, allowing just three hits while striking out seven in the complete-game effort.

The Blue Sox punched their tickets to the championship series by closing out the Wakefield Merchants in the semifinals on Saturday. Lexington finished off a 3-0 series sweep with a 3-2 win at Wakefield's Walsh Field.
