Lexington girls' hockey team is final Minuteman team standing.

The girls’ hockey team was the final Minuteman team standing this winter season. After all others packed up their gear and looked ahead to spring, LHS played on in the MIAA Division 1 state tournament.
In the first round last Saturday, by opening postseason play with a convincing 5-1 victory over the Watertown-Melrose cooperative squad. LHS junior Nicole Maher recorded a hat trick as the Minutemen pulled away in the third quarter.
That win set up another showdown between Lexington and Woburn. The Minutemen were the only team to beat the Tanners all season, picking up a 3-1 victory in December.

This time, the two met in the D-1 quarterfinal round at the Stoneham Arena on Tuesday. Unfortunately, around against the Tanners. Woburn carried a 3-0 lead into the third period before LHS sophomore Sara Lehman got her team on the score board.
Lexington’s squad finished the season with a stellar 15-3-4 mark.

Earlier this week, the Minutemen hired George Peterson to take over the football program from longtime coach Bill Tighe. Peterson comes to Lexington after serving a stint as the head coach of Bedford High School in New Hampshire.
