State Trooper Stops Domestic Violence Incident In Lexington

The man involved in the incident charged at and attacked the state trooper before he was subdued.

LEXINGTON, MA — A State Trooper was attacked while stopping a domestic violence incident on the road in Lexington on Sunday. The incident happened around 1:20 p.m. on Route 2 in Lexington, police said a man and two women were stopped on the side of the road.

While the trooper was driving down Route 2 he noticed the car pulled over and pulled his car over to see what the issue was. As he walked over to the car, the man inside came out and charged at the trooper, according to police. The man, identified as a 30 year-old from Lowell, attacked the trooper and the two struggled in the right lane of traffic until the trooper subdued and arrested him. Police said the man later tested positive for drugs.

Two women were in the car that was pulled over. Police said the man was committing a domestic assault against both women. One victim, a 29-year-old Woburn woman, is a friend of the suspect and had an outstanding warrant, she was arrested and taken to State Police Concord. The other woman was 57-year-old Burlington woman and a relative to the man, she was taken to Lahey Hospital for evaluation of injuries.

The man was also taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington for a psychiatric evaluation and was still hospitalized as of Monday. He was charged with assault and battery, assault on a police officers, domestic assault and battery, driving under the influence of drugs and disorderly conduct.
